Welcome to the website for Wigan’s Safeguarding Children Board.

Wigan’s Safeguarding Children Board (WSCB) is committed to keeping children and young people in Wigan Borough safe, by co-ordinating the activities of the members of the Board whose job it is to safeguard children and promote their welfare. The Board also works hard to ensure these activities are effective and really make a difference to the lives of our children and young people.

WSCB has agreed a plan for its business, to make sure that it focuses on the essential elements of keeping children safe. This is informed by guidance from government and the lessons we have learnt in Wigan from our own services to children and families.

WSCB is also very keen to listen to children, young people and their families themselves about what matters to them when it comes to keeping children and young people safe. The Board will work closely with its members to make sure the voices of children and young people are heard.

This website has been set up to provide information, which will give you a picture of how the Board is set up, what it does and who’s involved.

There is a genuine commitment and personal dedication from all members of WSCB to do the best we can to keep children and young people in Wigan safe from harm. However, we know that the community of Wigan Borough itself is our most important partner in looking out for our children and keeping them safe.
