Sports minister introduces martial arts safeguarding code
The minister for sport, Tracey Crouch, has announced a safeguarding code for children attending martial arts clubs.
This decision follows a review of care and abuse in British sport over the last two years. The voluntary code is being developed by Sport England, and will go live in June 2018.
The code is being supported by British Taekwondo, the British Kickboxing Council, British Judo and the English Karate Council.
There had previously been no overarching safeguarding code for martial arts, which is governed by many different bodies.
